“Château de Montvillargenne” was the personal wish of Baroness Jeanne de Rothschild, who commissioned Chatenay, one of the architects of the day formally trained at the renowned ‘School of Fine Arts’, founded by then celebrated master architect Honoré Daunet, who is credited with the creation of the spectacular Château de Chantilly.

Chatenay proposed and designed an astounding structure, a blend of regional and foreign styles easily notable in its particular details such as its Norman half-timbering, Wurttemberg roofing and Béarn balcony style.

The imposing castle finally found its calling as a deluxe hotel in the latter half of the 20th century, providing superb luxury accommodations and fine, traditional gastronomic catering to appreciative, delighted travellers ever since.
